potentialExtension -- suggest a field extension where splitting may become visible

Usage:

potentialExtension M
Inputs:
- M, a module or a coherent sheaf,
Outputs:
- a ring, typically a splitting field of a sampled endomorphism

Description

This function inspects a general endomorphism of $M$ and returns a candidate field extension that may expose further splitting.
